HILLARY Clinton’s odds to win the United States presidential election remain at $1.36 despite sportsbet.com.au taking a massive $30,050 bet on the former first lady on Tuesday night.
The $30,050 bet is the biggest bet placed on the US election to date at sportsbet, superseding a $28,000 punt on Trump that was taken last Sunday.
Bernie Sanders remains in the market at $26, but the one-time presidential hopeful has all but conceded defeat to Clinton.
Hillary’s Democratic Party is also the preferred party option in the market at $1.28, while the Republicans are at $3.25.
Clinton may be the short-priced favourite, but that has not stopped a flood of money coming in for the former host of The Apprentice.
Donald Trump remains the punters’ top pick at $3.25; and more than twice the amount that has been wagered on Clinton has been invested on the Republican to win.
Despite holding significantly more money than his democratic rival, Donald Trump is getting trounced in the US polls.
A new Bloomberg Politics national poll shows Hillary Clinton is leading Trump 49 percent to 37 percent among likely voters in November’s election.
The most damning statistic for the Republican candidate is that 55 percent of those polled said they could never vote for the real-estate developer and TV personality.
The pollster who oversaw the survey believes Clinton has a clear lead in more ways than one over her Republican counterpart.
“Clinton has a number of advantages in this poll, in addition to her lead,” pollster J. Ann Selzer said.
“Her supporters are more enthusiastic than Trump’s and more voters overall see her becoming a more appealing candidate than say that for Trump.”
The circus that has followed Trump’s campaign has found its way over to Australia, and Australian punters are investing more money than ever before on the US Presidential Election.
Sportsbet representative Christian Jantez said punters are not shy heading into what could be the most interesting US Election in recent memory.
“The big punters are stepping up to the plate in the last few days and the 30k wager on Hillary Clinton has bucked the trend that’s seen Donald Trump dominate the market overall,” Jantzen said.
