I’m a huge fan of BetOnline. They’ve done a great job catering to an international market, while ensuring US bettors are able to wager with ease too. Apart from some of the big Asian bookies — BetOnline offers bigger betting limits than anyone else.

So, who is BetOnline?

BetOnline — formerly known as BestLineSports — launched an online sportsbook in 2001 in Costa Rica. The company moved to Panama in July 2004 and quickly become one of the biggest employers in the country, as they employed over 300 staff.

Shortly after the company purchased the BetOnline.com domain and re-branded into the sportsbook we know today.

With huge betting limits, great banking options and a wealth of online betting features, BetOnline is one of the best bookmakers in the world. The fact BOL accepts bettors from the United States is great news for any Americans looking to bet on sports.

However, BetOnline also offers a racebook, casino, poker room and skill games, all of which can be played for real money.

BetOnline layout and interface

BOL isn’t trying to reinvent the traditional layout and you’ll recognize the interface if you’ve bet elsewhere.

The sportsbook lists the sports and bet types on the left of the screen. Simply click on the sport you want to bet on and then click on the bet type you want to make to view the current markets that are open.

Once you click on the market you want to bet on — the odds will be displayed in the middle of the screen. From here, you can click on the bet you want to make to move the bet into the “Bet Slip” on the right side of the screen.

The bet slip is where you’ll complete your wager. You can click on the bet type you want (IE: single, parlay, teaser, etc.), enter the amount you wish to bet and confirm the bet. Even if you’ve never bet on the Internet it won’t take long to get the hang of BOL.

Bonuses and promotions

As I mentioned at the top of the article – BetOnline offers a first deposit free play bonus of 25% for up to $1000 when you use the code “FIRST” in the cashier while completing your initial deposit. But, the bonuses and promotions don’t stop at that.

BetOnline also offers a 25% free play bonus for up to $1000 on every other deposit — this promo is known as the “Lifetime Bonus Guarantee”. Use the bonus code “LIFETIME” to receive the free play. All bonuses have a 6X rollover in the sportsbook.

New bettors can also claim a $25 free play to test out the live betting interface and a $50 free play to test out the mobile betting interface. Want to bet on horses? Grab a $25 risk-free bet in the racebook, plus earn up to 7% track rebates daily.

Keep an eye out for all of the great poker and casino promotions at BetOnline too.

Sports betting at BetOnline

BetOnline does a great job catering to every type of sports bettor, whether experienced or not.

Some of the great sports betting features include MLB dime lines (up to -199), overnight betting lines and the best teaser/parlay payouts odds in the industry. That’s not even factoring in the fact that BOL offers bigger limits than 99% of competitors.

Despite catering to an international crowd – the sports offered at BOL are still focused on the US market.

The sports available to bet on at BetOnline include baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, cricket, golf, tennis, martial arts, snooker, darts, boxing, auto racing, lacrosse, softball and the Olympics.

You’re not going to find better coverage of MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball.

International markets like soccer are still very good too. There are tons of soccer leagues around the world to bet on, including a lot of small leagues in South America, Africa and Asia. The international sports coverage continues to get better every year too.

The bet types at BetOnline are straight (single) bets, parlays, teasers, pleasers, round robin, if bet and reverse bet.

Live betting

If BetOnline could improve upon one feature, it would be the live betting interface. The live betting platform looks like it was built in the 90s and hasn’t been updated. Today, a lot of bookies show live betting stats, but BOL only displayed the live score.

The interface may be poor, however, the number of live betting markets and limits are great. BOL displays line movement in real-time using big green and red arrows. BOL also displays the current betting limit for the bet inside of the bet slip.

Once you get past the poor design, it quickly becomes apparent BOL is trying to cater to live bettors due to the range of markets, such as money lines, 1X2, point spreads, goal/point totals, alternate lines and dozens of live betting prop wagers.

Mobile betting

BetOnline Mobile is compatible on any browser-enabled mobile device, including the iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry.

Simply visit BetOnline.ag using one of the links on this review using your mobile device and you’ll be automatically redirected to the mobile optimized web-app. Not only can you bet in the sportsbook, but you can bet in-play, in the racebook and in the casino.

The app is extremely fast and lightweight, plus there’s no download required to use the web-app.

Using the mobile app will allow you to bet on sports anytime, anywhere. However, if there’s a situation where you can’t access the mobile app, simply call in to the BetOnline telephone betting center (1-800-883-9136) to place any wager you want.

Deposit and withdrawal options

There are a lot of banking options at the BetOnline Sportsbook, but certain options are restricted depending upon where you live.

Deposit options at BetOnline include Visa ($50-$1000), American Express ($50-$2500), MasterCard ($50-$1500), Person2Person ($50-$1000), Money Order ($300-$9000), Bitcoin ($20-$3500), Skrill ($10+), Neteller ($10+), Book2Book ($500+), Bank Wire ($1000+), Cheque ($1500-$24,900), Diners Club ($50-$1000), Discover ($50-$1000) and JCB ($50-$1000).

US bettors will be able to use Person2Person transfers (Western Union and MoneyGram), Book2Book transfers, Bitcoin or credit cards as long as your card isn’t restricted. Bitcoin has quickly become a popular deposit and payout option for all bettors.

Payout options at BetOnline include Person2Person ($50-$600), Bank Wire ($500-$24,900), Cheque ($500-$2500), Bitcoin ($20-$3500), Skrill ($25-$9900), Neteller ($25-$9900) and Book2Book ($500-$24,900).

BetOnline offers same-day payouts and the quickest options are Bitcoin, Skrill and Neteller. BOL uses industry leading technology to ensure all transactions are safe. Fees for payouts start at $20 and go up depending upon the method.

However, if you don’t mind waiting for a cheque, BetOnline offers one free cheque payout every 30 days.

Betting limits at BetOnline

The minimum bet online is $1 and the minimum bet on the telephone is $25.

Maximum betting limits range from $500 to $25,000 depending upon the sport and bet type. Point spread bets have the highest limits. You can wager $25,000 on NFL spreads, $15,000 on NCAAF spreads and $10,000 on NBA spreads.

The maximum bet on NHL money lines, puck lines and totals is $3000, while you can bet $10,000 on MLB money lines.

All of the betting limits are available on the BetOnline website and I recommend checking them out for the exact sports and bet types you plan on using the most. At the end of the day – BetOnline has the biggest betting limits in the USA.

Final Rating

BetOnline may not be the most transparent sportsbook, but that’s due to having a strong presence in the US market.

You’re going to get paid by BetOnline and that’s the main concern any online sports bettor has. You can use various banking options, including Bitcoin to remain anonymous.

BetOnline is a fantastic bookmaker with a strong reputation dating back more than a decade – click here to sign up and take advantage of the specials on offer!
