Sportsbet gives odds on Mariah Carey headlining Aussie reality TV

Mariah Carey
JAMES Packer’s soon to be wife Mariah Carey has been installed as an $11 chance to star in The Real Housewives of Sydney.

The reality TV show is currently casting and the funny folk at sportsbet.com.au have released a market on just who will be bitching to each other about each other on the show.

Already a reality star thanks to the upcoming E! series Mariah’s World, Carey’s impending marriage to the Aussie tycoon gives her a close link to Australia.

Byrne says the $11 odds indicate that “It is somewhat unlikely” that the the diva will cause some mayhem on set.

“More likely though would be Jesinta Campbell ($4) or Lara Bingle ($5) and even Lucy Turnbull gets a look in at odds of $51,” Byrne said

“Leading the race though are some ladies who have been surrounded with rumours of nailing a slot on the show – Christa Billich ($1.10), Gordana Willesee-Poljak ($1.15) and Kirsten Carriol ($1.45) are all short favourites.

“It’d probably the greatest series in the Housewives franchise if they managed to get Mariah.

“She is doing her own reality show, so you never know as I can’t imagine she’ll be a stay at home housewife once she ties the knot with Packer.”

Punters still smashing Coalition

The money is still flowing in for the Coalition as the election campaign continues in it infancy.

In Sportsbet.com.au’s Next Sworn In Government market, the Coalition remains in front at $1.34 to Labor’s $3.20.

And punter’s continue to stake big on the Coalition, with one punter this week dropping a lazy $5,000 on it to win the election.

One of the big movers is Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce in his seat of New England.

The incumbent has been wound into $1.40 to retain his seat, ahead of Tony Windsor, who has drifted out to $2.75.

Sportsbet.com.au

The bookie’s Ben Bulmer said Joyce had been priced as high as $1.70 in April, with Windsor into $2.05, but punters have since thrown their support behind the incumbent.

He said 75 per cent of the money was now backing Joyce, including one punter who this week staked $1,800 on the Deputy PM to win his seat.

The remaining 25 per cent of the money is on Windsor.

“After announcing he was challenging Barnaby Joyce in New England, Tony Windsor received a spike in punter interest, but all the love has switched back towards the Nationals leader, with punters confident he will win,’’ Bulmer said.

Who will be the man to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond?

“Bond, James Bond.”

Brooding pom Daniel Craig has delivered the iconic line in the past four James Bond movies but, with his contract set to run out after the next movie, sportsbet.com.au has released a market on who will be the man to replace him.

While worldwide betting on who will replace Craig has been suspended, after a flurry of bets on Thor/The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston, brought about by the fact he was reportedly spotted with director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli in London.

The English actor has moved into $1.50 from $3 at the beginning of May to pull clear of Irish actor Aiden Turner ($3.80) and Damien Lewis ($4.50).

But sportsbet.com.au punters clearly haven’t got the mail, with the online bookmaker reporting Mad Max: Fury Road monster Tom Hardy as the best backed to replace Craig at $10.

The bookie’s Will Byrne reports nearly a fifth of all wagers have been placed on the Hollywood star.

But he said Aussies were obviously a patriotic lot, with the bookie’s worst result said to be on home grown Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, who has attracted money at quotes of $67 and $51, winding his price in to a much shorter $16 chance.

“The race to replace Daniel Craig is picking up pace and Tom Hiddleston is the name on everyone’s lips right now, but we have hope that Jackman might get a shot at the role and make amends to the world for George Lazenby,’’ Byrne said.

Lazenby, of course, was the Australian actor who became the youngest man to appear as James Bond, taking over the role from Sean Connery, making just the one film – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

His high profile spat with producers led to him leaving the franchise, spitting the dummy because directors made him feel “mindless”.

Mate, Connery made millions out of Bond. Good decision.

Who will be the next James Bond markets:

$1.50 Tom Hiddleston

$3.80 Aidan Turner

$4.50 Damian Lewis

$10 Tom Hardy

$11 Henry Cavill

$11 Idris Elba

$11 T J Ramini

$13 Stephen Amell

$16 Hugh Jackman

$21 Luke Evans

$21 Jack O’Connell

$26 Michael Fassbender

$34 Orlando Bloom

$34 Tim Roth
