Worst. Fight. Ever.

This tweet from the folks @sportsbetcomau summed up the recent Bellator 149 heavyweight bout.

The MMA world had to suffer through one of the most slap-stick fights to have ever graced the octagon last Saturday.

The fight between heavy weight street fighters, Kimbo Slice and Dada 5000 was a comedic farce. It was so funny some people thought it was choreographed by Benny Hill.

The fight ended when Dada 5000 “weathered” a flurry of limp wristed punches from Kimbo, only to stagger a full lap of the octagon before falling flat on his face. I’ve seen more brutality in a live stage show of the Wiggles in concert.

Opal Blackface Debacle

In the wake of Alice Kunek’s painted black face/Instagram shamozzle, Basketball Australia is inflicting all Opals team members to race and religion sensitivity classes.

Since the Instagram photo was posted of Alice Kunek dressed up as her idol, Kanye West, Kunek has come under fire for donning the blackface make-up. Her team mate, Liz Cambage, of Nigerian decent, has been criticized for taking offence to the blackface make-up.

I think there is one thing that can be taken from this entire situation. Nothing good comes from idolizing Kanye West.

McCullum really retiring?

New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum easily notched up the fastest Test 100 in his final Test before retirement.

With McCullum still able to hit the stitches off the cherry with such skill and ease, it makes you wonder if he’s a little premature in pulling the pin on his career. Especially considering the precarious state of the New Zealand Test squad. If Kane Williamson ever got a touch of the flu or kicked in the shin or anything that kept him away from the crease for any extended length of time, the Black Caps Test future would become as dead as Dillinger.

Can we expect Kiwi coach Mike Hesson to send out an SOS to McCullum any time soon?

Has the ICC gone topsy-turvy?

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been fined 15% of his match fee after letting fly with a bit of potty mouth that happened to be picked up on stump microphone.

I think it’s a pretty piss weak state of affairs when a fast bowler – or any bowler for that matter – can’t let fly with a few choice expletives in the thick of battle. Has the ICC gone completely bananas fining Hazlewood? It’s not as if he threatened to deck the third umpire or anything. He was simply inquiring – in the most colorful language he could think of – who the third umpire was for the session.

What happened to the days of David Boon downing 52 tinnies on the flight to England? These days a cricketer can’t drop an F-bomb without getting a slap across the knuckles.

Makes sense

Things got weird at the weigh in for Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz ahead of UFC 196.

Conor McGregor was entertaining the crowd with his wit and charisma while a dower looking Diaz sat brooding in the corner, making odd little quips from time to time.

The press conference took a turn for the odd when Diaz finally piped up accusing McGregor and everyone in the UFC of being on steroids. As if to illustrate his point, McGregor flew into a fit of rage, denying any involvement with steroids.

Novak Djokovic has celebrated his 700th win in Dubai today. Stunning stuff really. Congratulations to the Djoker!

Mundine set for hip surgery

Anthony Mundine, in an effort to prolong his tattered boxing career for at least one more bout, has flown to England for surgery on his hip.

Which hospital is Mundine going to? A Skynet owned and operated one? The Weapon X program? Because the only way I can see his boxing career being extended is if his mind is transferred into a Terminator cyborg or if his skeleton is melded with indestructible adamantium.

Well Deserved

Mick Fanning had one of the worst years a bloke could hope for in 2015. His marriage fell apart, he lost his brother and he got in a stoush with a shark doing the thing he loves.

Today Fanning announced that he is taking 2016 as a bit of a “him” year. His sabbatical from surfing will finally give everyone else a chance to actually have a win. I keep hearing big wraps on these two blokes Kelly Slater and Adriano De Souza. Maybe Fanning’s absence will let those two have a win…

Montreal Canadiens’ social media guru surely fired

Whoever is in charge of running the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens Twitter account is probably looking for a new job after one of the most hilarious gaffs in recent Twitter history.

To celebrate the Canadiens Twitter account nearing 1 million followers, each new follower received an automated picture of a personalised jersey with their Twitter handle on the back along with a thank you message.

Things started to go pear-shaped when Twitter handles like “@IloveISIS”, “@habslovescock” and “@deathton****s” started appearing over Twitter. In a panic the Canadiens delted as much as they could before firing off a time-honoured apology.
