WHAT a week of football the ninth round of the Premier League was, unfortunately the punters did not enjoy it as much as the impartial observers.
Red-hot favourites Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham all failed to get the win at short prices, condemning last week’s multi in the process.
The only constant punters could rely upon was Liverpool’s great form, which ensured the Reds tightened further at Sportsbet.com.au in title betting.
Liverpool is now the $4 second favourite behind Manchester City ($2.25).
Arsenal ($6.50) and Chelsea ($7) are the only other teams currently under double figures for the 2016/17 Premer League title.
Enough of the title talk, let’s get stuck into our multi.
All odds for the tenth week of the Premier League season were provided by Sportsbet.com.au.
New customers can get their first bet at Sportsbet matched up to the value of $501.
Selections for the week 10 EPL multi:
Arsenal to defeat Sunderland ($1.40)
Double chance – Leicester or draw against Tottenham ($2.25)
Liverpool to beat Crystal Palace ($1.73)
Double chance – West Ham or draw against Everton ($2)
Combined multi value: $10.89 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Sunderland vs. Arsenal
Saturday, October 29 from 10.30 pm AEDST Stadium of Light, Sunderland
The first match of the multi sees the top of the table Arsenal traveling to the Stadium of Light to face the bottom-placed Sunderland.
The Gunners are reeling after their disappointing 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough last weekend, but after Manchester City failed to secure all three points against Southampton, Arsenal were still able to remain locked on 20 points alongside the Sky Blues.
The Black Cats have registered just two points for the entirety of the Premier League season and look destined to be relegated at the completion of the season.
Arsenal has won six of the last eight matches between the two sides and have not lost to Sunderland since 2012.
Last week’s draw was an aberration, Arsenal should bounce right back against the worst performing team in the Premier League this season.
Tip: Arsenal to win – $1.40
Tottenham vs. Leicester
Sunday, 30 October from 3.30am AEDST, White Hart Lane, London
This weekend’s match of the week sees the champion Foxes traveling to London to face the Spurs.
Tottenham has been resilient in trying circumstances throughout the 2016/17 campaign, but after stunning the league a month ago by inflicting Manchester City’s first loss of the season the Spurs have gone on to score just once and register only two points.
The goals are not coming without marksman Harry Kane in the side and the English international is not expected to return to the pitch for at least another fortnight.
Leicester’s title defence has not gone to plan so far, but after a string of tricky fixtures the Foxes got their names back in the winner’s list after recording a fantastic 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
A Kane-less Tottenham struggles to find the back of the net, and given Leicester is coming off their finest win of the season we can see them putting together another encouraging performance.
The odds on the Leicester/draw double chance are too good to ignore and we are happy to take them here.
Tip: Leicester to win or draw – $2.25
Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool
Sunday, 30 October from 3.30am AEDST, Selhurst Park, London
The second London game in the early hours of Sunday morning sees the Reds and the Eagles locking horns in an intriguing matchup.
Liverpool have been one of the best performed teams of the campaign so far, and after their professional 2-1 victory over a plucky West Brom last week Jurgen Klopp’s men firmed into second favourite for the title ($4.00 at Sportsbet.com.au).
Crystal Palace is in need of a win after registering just one point from their last three matches. The Eagles are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, and given they come up against arguably the most offensive team in the competition they will have their work cut out for them.
The last five matches between the two teams has yielded a result either way, which bodes well for us given we are backing the Reds to make it two in a row against Palace.
Liverpool to keep their winning run going is one of the best bets of the Premier League weekend.
Tip: Liverpool to win – $1.73
Everton vs. West Ham
Monday, 31 October from 12.30am AEDST, Goodison Park, Liverpool
The last leg of the multi takes place on Monday morning as Everton host West Ham.
After a terrific start to the season Everton have fallen in a hole.
The Toffees have amassed just two points from their last five games, including losses to newly promoted teams Burnley and Norwich.
West Ham is undefeated from their last three outings which includes two straight wins.
The Hammers have kept three clean sheets from their last four matches and look to have found some form after a disappointing opening two months of the season.
West Ham is in form and Everton are not, which makes the odds on the Hammers’ double chance all the more baffling but we are not complaining.
West Ham to win or draw on Monday morning should bring us home in style.
Tip: West Ham to win or draw – $2
